Whole-Class Introduction to Giglets

A simple, step-by-step guide for introducing Giglets to your class for the first time

This first session introduces learners to Giglets in a simple but purposeful way. Whether you demo on screen or support pupils to log in, the goal is to build excitement and familiarity. You’ll explore key features together – like opening a text, listening to audio, and trying reading tasks – so pupils feel ready and confident to read.

Before the Session
✅ Choose one text from the Giglets library. Select the book cover for more information and 'Preview' to read in advance. Here you can also add any 'shared highlighting' you would like to do before assigning.
✅ Choose 'Manage Access' and assign the text to your ‘virtual pupil’ account. You can read about ‘Virtual Pupil’ in this guide. At this point, if learners are going to log in individually, you should also assign the text to their accounts.
✅ Select the task(s) you would like to demonstrate. Selecting a couple will allow you to show how pupils will complete each type of task when reading on Giglets.
✅ To familiarise yourself with navigating as a pupil, you can navigate to your virtual pupil account by selecting the settings cog in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
